Meth Packets: Ice Breaker Pacs

Started by SomeChick · 10 months ago

Hershey’s halted production of their Ice Breaker Pacs due to complaints from concerned parents, law enforcement agencies and recovering meth addicts alike.

  • Hi Sal, thanks for stopping by. There is a part of me that agrees with what the petition link says - that parents should be responsible for their kids. However, even the most responsible parents find themselves dealing with meth addicted children. There are MANY other facts that play into why people start using and sure it's probably not because they saw a baggy of breath freshener at the store, however these "baggies" are one more thing that makes it familiar and to younger kids they might even see the real thing and not understand that the drug their friends are using is not sold in stores.
There are many other reasons why this is inappropriate and Hershey's stance of "we didn't know" is ridiculous; but then again they aren't going to come out and say that they wanted it to look risque like illegal street drugs.
  • Are you f*ing serious, this freak has a petition out to keep these things then has the nerve to post a link to it. I applaud you SC for keeping his SPAM link on your blog. What a joke, oh, and good luck Sal with those 7 sigs you have so far. Why would anyone in their right (or left) mind even start a petition like this, unless of coarse you invested in this thing and lost out big time...lol. Get a life!!
  • I can't say I didn't find it somewhat comical myself. lol
  • Thats just ridiculous. You want a product pulled, simply because it resembles a drug (and only those 'in the know' would know!)? Thats ludicrous.
  • So just because you aren't "in the know" as you put it, it should be allowed? These were pulled because in addition to complaints from parents, law enforcement have requested that the packages be changed. Maybe you would appreciate the fact that these were discontinued if you got arrested for having a packet of breath freshener in your pocket.
  • Starr: You might also appreciate the fact that these were discontinued if you had a young child who could easily find a dope bag and eat it thinking it was one of these Ice Breaker Pacs that mommy/daddy eat!
  • Yet another good point Lowster.

I hope those reading through these comments can understand that I'm not just happy the product was pulled because I want to be "PC" about it.

This was either a dumb idea with poor planning or some nitwit in marketing thought it would be cute to push the envelope by making it look like drug baggies. Either way - bad idea Hershey's.
  • You know, these things were actually pretty tasty. I wish they'd redesign the packaging or something, because I really liked them, but can totally see how a kid might pick up a baggie at a park and shove it in their mouth on mistake. Or how a parent or police officer could mistake a little box of breath fresheners for a little box of baggies.
  • its accually a very good product the taste is great
