Exactly meth could've been stopped in it's tracks if the DEA had been able to implement the kind of precursor controls that stopped quaaludes. Now all the DEA's actions are little more than shutting the gate once the horse has bolted because the market for meth is firmly established and people will find ways around the controls and risk their freedom to tap into a highly profitable trade. Yet another failure in the war on drugs (which itself is a massive failure).

The DEA and FDA knew what kind of problem it would be 15 years ago, when they had the power to stop it in it's tracks. But, the loby of the big companies providing the psuedo payed off lawmakers, it's easy to see now who is responsible for the epidemic. The good? old USA?
